John and Diane MacPherson are the owners of both Tour d’Epicure Virginia Cycling Adventures and the Foster Harris House Bed and Breakfast. They are avid cyclists and enjoy sharing their passion for cycling, food, and wine with other like-minded people. They, along with the rest of the staff, are dedicated to making your cycling vacation safe, comfortable, and fun.

John was a competitive cyclist for twenty years and raced as a USCF rider both in Southern California and in New England. He cycled through much of Europe and rode a number of the Tour de France courses, including the famous Mont Ventoux in Provence and the Champs Elysées in Paris. He was a design engineer for 10 years before he and Diane took ownership of the Foster Harris House bed and breakfast in little Washington, Virginia. His passion for cooking and wine were instilled in him from an early age by his parents, both excellent cooks. Today his cooking talents are put to use at the Foster Harris House much to the enjoyment of the guests.

Diane has cycled the countryside of the various places she’s lived, including Ridgefield, Connecticut, Asheville, North Carolina, Laguna Beach, California, Salzburg, Austria, and now Washington, Virginia. Diane has toured Vancouver, B.C. by bicycle and in 2004 rode up some of the steepest pitches the Tour de France has to offer. Her prior career took her around the world as a trainer, event planner, and public speaker for a management consulting firm. Diane also has a talent for interior design and has put her refined touch on the Foster Harris House making it a luxurious and sophisticated retreat.

Robert Teixeira has been a cyclist all his life and a USCF racer for the past fifteen. He is the owner of Spintex Fitness (www.spintexfitness.com), a cycling/fitness coaching company that provides personal coaching and fitness training to both individuals and amateur teams. He is a certified USA Expert cycling and fitness coach, American Council on Exercise peer trainer as well as a Los Angeles County firefighter and paramedic. We are thrilled to have Robert on board as a Tour d’Epicure guide.

Randy D’Amore has been fixing, building and designing things since he was a boy growing up in Massachusetts. In the medical device engineering field for the past fifteen years, he brings not only his mechanical ability but also his warm personality and driving expertise to Tour d’Epicure. As our van support driver and on-road mechanical support, Randy makes sure our riders are well taken care of whether they need a wheel change, quick adjustment or a ride to our next dining destination.

“…We were led by two world-class cyclists, so those on our tour who were serious riders were well-tended to; but, the great surprise for my husband and me, both novices, was that the leaders made us feel like a million dollars!”
